Animal Health Diagnostics is focused on the health and welfare screening of animals.  Two primary product groups are sold to organisations in over 30 countries globally.  The focus of this division is on two key markets:

2) Bovine mastitis

Novel screening approach for early detection of mastitis in bovines to shorten the treatment and infection cycle, increasing milk output

Main Products

The technology behind the products is based on the detection of a range of Acute Phase Proteins (APP) present in the blood of animals (or milk of dairy cows). These proteins are general indicators of health and are either absent or present at very low concentrations in the blood when an animal is healthy. However, the levels of these proteins in blood rise rapidly and significantly in response to a problem, increasing up to 1000 fold when compared with the levels detected under normal conditions. The test provides very useful information in establishing the overall general state of health of the animal and reduces the reliance on the use of a wide range of very specific and highly expensive tests.
