Accura Animal Health, Accura, the PLUS quoted integrated veterinary pharmaceutical and diagnostics company (ACPO) today announced that Professor Donald Davies has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director. Accura Animal Health was de-merged from Accura Pharma in October 2007 following the acquisition of Tridelta; the Irish based veterinary diagnostics company.

We were able to announce the appointment of Alan Reade as Chairman a short while ago and now I am very pleased to be able to announce the appointment of Professor Davies to the Board.
Donald has an enviable track record in product evaluation and development in both the academic as well as commercial arenas. His expertise will be an invaluable input to the Board as we finalise the clinical development programmes for our new products and then move them to commercialisation.”
Donald Davies has approximately 38 years’ experience in research on drug action and safety at leading academic research institutions and has published more than 250 scientific papers. He has extensive knowledge of drug and chemical regulation and has served on major committees in Europe and the USA as well acting as a consultant for multi-national pharmaceutical companies. He was a founding director of ML Laboratories plc, a post he held for 18 years until his retirement in 2005. He is currently Emeritus Professor in Toxicology at Imperial College London.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Royal College of Pathologists and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the British Toxicology Society. He served as chairman of Independent Panel for Vaccines Interactions Research, Gulf Veterans' Illnesses Unit, Ministry of Defence (1999 – 2007), as an external expert to the European Medicines Evaluation Agency (1997 – 2004), as a member of the Board of the National Institute of Biological Standards and Control (1996 – 2004), the Committee on Safety of Medicines (Department of Health, 1993 – 1998) and the Committee on Toxicity (Department of Health, 1978 – 1988).
